On August 14th 2005, the Republic of Poland joined the international Convention (concluded on October 5th 1961 in Hague) abolishing the requirement of legalization for foreign public documents by diplomatic representatives and consular officers. By now 102 countries have ratified the Convention, including almost every Member State of the European Union, as well as the United States of America, Russia and Israel.

Apostille and gold seal authentication are methods of certifying United States documents for use in another country. Countries that participate in the Hague Convention of 1961 require U.S. companies to provide an apostillized copy of your articles of incorporation or formation in order to open a bank account or engage in other business transactions. If an apostillized copy is provided, your documents will be recognized without the need for additional certification or legalization by the embassy or consulate of the foreign country.

Therefore, it’s a requirement for documents notarized in USA to have authority in other country.
Examples of documents that need to be legalized are:

  1. Judiciary documents (e.g. divorce records, adoption documents etc.)
  2. Administrative documents (e.g. certificates of births, certificates of marriage)
  3. Notarized documents
  4. Official certificates which are placed on documents signed by persons in their private capacity.

The aforementioned American documents will be considered legal e.g. in Poland on the basis of the certification “Apostille”.

Business Plus LLC offers complex assistance in this matter.
